July 05: Bayreuther Stadtgespräche - Colonial Bayreuth

29.06.2023

Following the lecture of Prof. Dr. Brown (see news release before) a discussion round of the series "Bayreuther Stadtgespräche" will take place on July 05 at Iwalewahaus, this time organized by the Institute for African Studies of the University of Bayreuth. Prof. Dr. Stefan Ouma (Chair of Economic Geography, University of Bayreuth) and Florian André Unterburger (Historian, B.A. and initiator of the Förderverein Industriemuseum Bayreuth (IMB)) will discuss together with Dr. Cassandra Mark-Thiesen (Africa and Global Historian, University of Bayreuth) as moderator, how colonial language and images still have an impact in the Bayreuth cityscape today.

The Bayreuth City Talks have been held regularly at the Iwalewahaus since July 2014. On the first Wednesday of each month, changing speakers offer insights into exciting and current topics. The talks are open to all interested parties without registration - admission is free.

The talk will be held in German.
