The Sociology of Africa chair group contributes with its teaching to the University of Bayreuth's interdisciplinary study programs: the BA and MA Culture and Society of Africa, BA-Track and MA Sociology, MA Development Studies, BA Internationale Wirtschaft und Entwicklung, and MA Global History, among others.
Offered courses include Post-conflict societies in Africa, Länderseminar (Afrika) (Liberia), Governing Change in the Extractive Sector, Governance and Conflict in Spaces of (Large-Scale) Extraction, and Globale Entwicklungsagenden: Hintergründe, Rahmenbedingungen, kritische Bestandsaufnahme.

the courses for the summer semester are online. Despite the pandemic conditions, the University of Bayreuth tries to offer many courses in presence. Please register for the courses as soon as possible so that we can include your decision in the room planning. The chair group offers exciting courses such as Transnational governance and contestation in Africa, Courts, Judges and Development, the country seminar: Politics, Culture and Society in Nigeria as well as Interdisciplinary Perspectives on post-truth politics, and State and Society in Africa.
