Raoul Bunskoek ist Postdoktorand an der Universität Bayreuth. Im Rahmen des INFRAGLOB-Projekts erforscht er, wie chinesische politisch-ökonomische Praktiken in afrikanischen Ländern Global Governance (neu) gestalten und was dies für Theorien der Internationalen Beziehungen (IR) bedeutet. Generell konzentriert sich seine Forschung auf vergleichende westliche und post-westliche (insbesondere chinesische, aber auch afrikanische) Konzeptualisierungen von Moral und Macht in den Internationalen Beziehungen und wie sich diese in den Strategien der USA, Chinas, verschiedener afrikanischer Länder und der EU widerspiegeln, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die 2013 von China vorgeschlagene Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Vor diesem Hintergrund hat er kürzlich " 'Community of Common Destiny' als post-westlicher Regionalismus: Rethinking China's Belt and Road Initiative from a Confucian Perspective" (2021, mit Chih-yu Shih), "Towards global relational theorizing: a dialogue between Sinophone and Anglophone scholarship on relationalism" (2019, mit Nordin et al.), sowie das Buch "China and International Theory: The Balance of Relationships" (2019, mit Chih-yu Shih et al.) veröffentlicht. Raoul hat einen Doktortitel und einen MA-Abschluss in Politikwissenschaft und internationalen Beziehungen der National Taiwan University sowie einen BA-Abschluss in Chinastudien der Universität Leiden. Zuvor arbeitete er für das Hu Fu Center in East Asia Democratic Studies und das Institute of Political Science at Academia Sinica (IPSAS) in Taipeh, Taiwan (R.O.C.).
