In addition to the courses offered this summer term, we also have great news to share. Following a resolution by the university leadership, the Conflict, Crisis, and Change Research Center — abbreviated as C³ — has officially been established as a new research center at the University of Bayreuth. Prof. Dr. Jana Hönke, Chair of Sociology in Africa, was unanimously elected as the director of C³. As the successor to the UBT Peace and Conflict Research Network, C³ brings together research, teaching, and public outreach in the field of peace and conflict studies.
The center supports interdisciplinary collaboration and promotes knowledge transfer, particularly through the lecture series Bayreuth Peace Talks. It combines expertise from various academic disciplines to study crises, conflicts, (in)security, and transitions to peace – with a special focus on dynamics of change, knowledge production, and questions of justice.
If you are interested in topics related to peace and conflict research, feel free to check out the C³'s Instagram or YouTube channels, or visit the C³ website. There, you can stay informed about current events and announcements by subscribing to the mailing lists.
We wish you all the best for the upcoming summer term and hope to welcome you soon at one of our events.
